Troy ounces are not ordinary ounces
One troy ounce is exactly 31.1034768 grams. The avoirdupois ounce used for groceries is approximately 28.3495 grams. Confusing the two creates an error close to ten percent. Regional tael definitions can vary; this converter labels the gram assumption used.
